“Who Should We Be Building For?”: Swiss Housing Experts on Immigration and Demographic Change
This interview series set out to understand who the people are that will require newly built housing in the future. Who does the housing sector expect will make up the 10 million or more people living in Switzerland by 2050?
Answers by Dr. Michael Siegenthaler, labor market analyst and Professor at ETH Zurich M-TEC, co-author of the population scenario for 2050; Daniel Leupi, Zürich City Council member for the Green Party and Head of Finance, responsible for the distribution of public housing in Zurich; and Martin Tschirren, Director of the Federal Office for Housing (Bundesamt für Wohnungswesen), Switzerland’s national housing authority.
