Architectural Pedagogies in the Climate CrisisMetaxia Markaki, Petros Phokaidis and the School of Commons in conversation with KAENA Athens, Mariza Daouti and Natasa Lekou
How can architectural education equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to address the environmental and social challenges posed by the climate and ecological crisis?
How can the social, economic and political dimensions of the climate crisis be critically examined within the educational process, and in particular through design? How can architectural education contribute to the redefinition of architecture as a cognitive subject in order to make it more responsive to the contemporary needs of society and the planet?
The next event from KÆNA will focus on the educational process, exploring issues around methodology, interdisciplinarity, and how innovative approaches can be developed that update and reorient the discipline itself.
With the contribution of lecturers and students from Greece and abroad, the KÆNAs invite to an open discussion on the current state and future of architectural education.
Speakers will be Petros Fokaidis, architect and assistant professor at the University of Thessaly, Metaxia Markaki, architect and lecturer at ETH Zurich, and a group of architecture students who participated in the inter-university School of Commons programme.
