Agritopia: Ein Modell Für Zürich-NordJan Westerheide
During the lecture, Jan Westerheide will present the project Agritopia, a collective student project about the future of the agricultural territories of Zürich-Nord. The project was developed as part of the design studio Agritopia at ETH Zurich.
Agritopia is a future vision of an urban agricultural landscape where agriculture and the city are united. It is a landscape of cultivation where food is produced for the surrounding neighborhoods. Agritopia is a human and non-human habitat. It is a resilient landscape resisting the impacts of the climate and biodiversity crisis. Agritopia is a community, based on networks of solidarity.
The lecture will take place in the framework of the event Zukunft Naherholungsgebiet Katzensee, organised by the association “Zukunft Affoltern.” The event explores the question of how the future of the Katzensee landscape can be shaped to meet the needs of local recreation, nature conservation and agriculture. The Katzensee landscape is a local recreation, nature conservation and agricultural area. It is already heavily utilised today and with the population growth in the region, the pressure of use will continue to increase.
